Canvas

For students in middle and high school, Canvas serves as their classes' online version. There, they can access assignments, grades and other items that the teacher has added. Families can access Canvas through the Canvas Parent phone app as well as on the web with a computer. The app is very convenient, but does not show as much information, like teacher comments, as Canvas on the web.

Accessing Canvas in the Parent App and on the Web

Canvas Parent App Download

Canvas Student Login (6th-12th grades)

  1. Navigate to shorelineschools.instructure.com. You can also access the link from the "Shoreline Bookmarks" folder on the left side of the Bookmarks bar in Google Chrome on your school Chromebook.
  2. Enter the first part of your Shoreline email address, like pw0123456, for the username.
  3. Enter the password you received when you received your Chromebook. Please contact the school's Tech Office if you are having password issues.

Canvas Parent/Guardian (6th-12th grades)

There are two important and helpful ways you can view your students Canvas information:

  1. Parent Account: Logging in through the Parent/Observer Account will allow you to access messages from teachers and other important class-related information.
  2. Student Account: Logging in as your student will help you see the platform as they see it and access their specific assignments.

📱 Access Your Parent Account (App)

  1. Download the Canvas Parent App (App Store / Google Play Store).
     
  2. Tap the Shoreline School District button, if available. If not, tap Find School → enter “Shoreline School District”
     
  3. For the username, enter your email address that the school has on record. If you need to update your email address, please contact your child's school.
     
  4. If you already have a parent observer account (you use to observe an older child), enter your password. If not, tap Forgot Password? and set a password.

💻 Access Parent Account (Web)

  1. Go to shorelineschools.instructure.com
     
  2. For the username, enter the email address that the school has on record.
     
  3. If you already have a parent observer account, enter your password. If not, click the Forgot Password? link and set a password.

💻 Logging in as a Student

Log in at shorelineschools.instructure.com.

  • Username = initials + student number (ex: pw0123456)
  • Password = Chromebook password (new students: add “0” in front, ex: 00123456). Students will be encouraged to change their password to a more secure one.

Alerts-Notifications

You are in control of the alerts and email notifications from Canvas.

📱 Alerts Settings (App)

  1. Tap the menu icon (the three lines) in the upper left corner of the screen.
  2. Tap Manage Students.
  3. Tap the name of your child.
  4. Adjust the alerts.

💻 Notifications Settings (Web)

  1. Click the Account circle at the top of the left gray navigation bar.
  2. Click Notifications.
  3. For the different items, choose whether you would not like to receive notifications, receive them in a daily or weekly summary, or receive them immediately.
