Leon Ferrell Selected as Interim Assistant Principal of Kellogg Middle School

Leon Ferrell has been selected to serve as Interim Assistant Principal of Kellogg Middle School for the 2026-27 school year, pending Shoreline School Board approval, Superintendent Susana Reyes announced. Leon currently serves as Dean of Students at Auburn High School, where he spent the past year supporting students, staff, and families.

Leon brings more than a decade of experience in education, including service as a multilingual learner teacher, instructional leader, coach, and student support administrator. Throughout his career, he has focused on building positive school cultures, strengthening student engagement, and creating equitable systems that help every student succeed. As Dean of Students at Auburn High School, he has led initiatives to improve attendance, reduce chronic tardiness, strengthen behavioral supports, and implement schoolwide intervention systems through a collaborative Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework.

Prior to Auburn High School, Leon served at Mount Baker Middle School, where he taught multilingual learners (MLL), led professional learning, developed district assessment systems, coached multiple athletic programs, and completed his principal internship. Earlier in his career, he taught at the elementary level, worked as a substitute teacher, and served as a Behavior Support Paraeducator at a junior high school.

Leon holds a Principal Certificate and Master of Arts in Teaching (K-8) from Heritage University, an MLL Teacher Certificate from Western Governors University, and a Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Washington University.

I am excited to serve the Kellogg community and begin this next chapter together.”
