Likely last day of school is Monday, June 16

Likely Last Day June 16

With four school-day closures for the bomb cyclone and three snow/inclement weather days, Shoreline schools will need to make up school days at the end of the year. We have submitted a waiver request to the WA State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) for the bomb cyclone day, which we anticipate will be granted.

Assuming that it is granted, the make-up day schedule will be:

  • Monday, June 2
  • Friday, June 13
  • Monday, June 16

(If OSPI were not to grant our waiver request for the bomb cyclone closure, the last day would be Tuesday, June 17, which would be a half day instead of Monday.)

Additionally, we have submitted a waiver request for one of the three snow days to OSPI, with the goal of ending the school year on Friday, June 13, rather than on Monday, June 16. If the waiver is granted, Shoreline School District will collaborate with our labor partners to adjust June school day schedules in order to meet the state-required instructional time for the school year. We are grateful to our valued labor partners for their teamwork, creative partnership, and flexibility to help us develop this approach that prioritizes student learning and ensures full staffing to support their needs.

OSPI will likely inform the district of their decision no later than the end of April, and we will notify the community of the final schedule as soon as possible, including dismissal times for each day.
