2026-27 Important School Year Dates

Key dates for students and families for the 2026-27 school year:

  • Tue., September 1: First day of school for grades 1-12 
  • Fri., September 4: First day of school for kindergarten
    • Note that kindergarten families will need to attend a WaKIDS conference with their teacher on one day, September 1-3
  • Mon., September 7: No school - Labor Day
  • Wed., November 11: No school - Veterans Day
  • Wed., November 25: Half-day release
  • Nov. 26-27: No school - Thanksgiving Day and Native American Heritage Day
  • Dec. 21 - Jan. 1: No school - Winter Break
  • Mon., January 18: No school - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • February 15-19: No school - Presidents Day and Mid-Winter Break
  • April 19-23: No school - Spring Break
  • Mon., May 31: No school - Memorial Day
  • Thu., June 17: Likely last day of school

To be scheduled:

  • First day of school for preschool
  • Fall conference week (there are no spring conferences)
  • Early release Wednesdays
  • No-student staff work days
  • Possible make-up days

Note that as of January 9, 2026, all dates above are likely to stand, but they are still pending finalization with the district and SEA, as well as final school board adoption of the 2026-27 calendar, which will include all of the items listed as "to be scheduled."
