Identification

• Shoreline will screen all kindergarten students in the fall.
• Families will be notified via Parent Square of their student's eligibility for enrichment services in  the winter quarter.
• Students determined eligible for services will participate in the Primary Enrichment Program (PEP) in the spring of the current school year.
• Enrichment services will continue through the end of first grade. 

• Shoreline will screen of all 1st, 3rd and 5th grade students in the fall.
• Students who meet the screening threshold will be invited to participate in further assessment via Parent Square in late November/December.
• Testing will take place during the school day at your student's home school.  Testing days are scheduled based on school schedules.  Please check with your student's school for testing dates.
• Students must have parental/guardian consent to participate in assessment.
• Students determined eligible for the Highly Capable Program may begin receiving services in the fall of the following school year.

• Students in 2nd, 4th and 6th-8th grades may register for full battery CogAt testing during  the summer testing window. Registration information will go out via Parent Square  during the spring quarter.
• Students determined eligible for the Highly Capable Program will begin receiving services in the fall of the proceeding school year.

• Eligibility opportunity in Summer and Early Fall for NEW SHORELINE STUDENTS ONLY who have not already been tested for Highly Capable Services for this year.
• Students determined eligible for the Primary Enrichment Program (PEP)  or Highly Capable Program will begin receiving services during the current school year.

Any staff member, student, parent/guardian, or community member may nominate a Shoreline student for hi-cap evaluation by completing this online Nomination Form. 

For students nominated by someone other than their parent/guardian, families will be notified and invited to provide consent for assessment. 

All Kindergarten and 1st grade students are screened for possible PEP identification and service during the school year. Therefore, there is no nomination process for current kindergarten and 1st grade students.
