State Assessments Required for Graduation
In May 2019 the Washington Legislature changed the state testing requirements for graduation. The major changes are:
- Starting with the graduating class of 2020, students in Washington State will not longer need to pass state tests in order to graduate. Participating in state tests in English Language Arts, math, and science will still be required.
- Information about graduation requirements and the pathways to graduation.
- Science Not Needed for Graduation: Students will not need to pass a science examination to graduate. Students in grades 5, 8, and 11 are expected to take a state science test, but they will not need to pass it to graduate.
