Truancy Office
Revised Code of Washington 28A.225 requires students from age 8 to 17 living in the Shoreline School District to attend public school, a private school, or a district-approved alternative program. When they fail to do that, they are considered to be truant. When students have accumulated 7 unexcused absences in a month, or 15 unexcused absences in a school year, the Shoreline School District is required to file a Truancy Petition for them with the Juvenile Court.
For questions about mandated school attendance or the Truancy Petition process in general, please contact Alison Wycoff, Shoreline School District Truancy Specialist, either by telephone at 206-393-4729 or by email.
